Why You Shouldn't Use Facebook Ads For Your Herbal Business (Until You Do This!)

You probably shouldn't be using Facebook ads for your herbal business.

Not yet anyway.

I know that it is tempting when you have have these great products and services that you want to get out there into the world. Especially when you try using organic social media posts and they don't reach that many people.

But setting paid advertising into motion before the systems in their business are actually ready for it is a huge mistake... and one that you will literally pay for.

Please, please, please watch this video first and DON'T throw money at a broken system.

The Disconnect

When you invest money into paid advertising before setting up customer pathways (a.k.a. sales funnels), you're going to lose people along the way and it's unlikely that you'll make a significant return on your investment.

People might find their way to your website, but without clear direction about where to go next, the energy is going to fizzle out and they won't find their way to where you want them to go -- that is, your amazing herbal products and services.

Instead, it's important to set up systems behind the scenes to lead customers  into the right products and showing them how they can use them.

What it comes down to is creating customer pathways to your products and services. Starting from someone who doesn't know about your brand to someone who knows and loves your brand and is willing to actually pay for what you offer.

Creating Customer Pathways (a.k.a. Sales Funnels)

The best practice with creating customer pathways is to:

Start with the end in mind.

You need to get really clear on exactly what it is that you want them to purchase and what result that is going to bring people.

  • If you have an herbal product business, you might create like a specific bundle of products that you want them to gravitate towards, or a specific product line, or a best selling product.
  • If you are an herbal teacher, you might have a year-long immersive herbal course that you run with students.
  • If you are a clinical herbalist, you have a 6-month  package that you would like people to join to reach a specific goal on their health journey.

Whatever it is, gaining clarity on exactly what you are offering and how it helps people will make the rest of the funnel much easier to create in a way that speaks to your ideal customers.

So we're starting with the end in mind, and then we're going to work backwards from there to create the pathways that people will move through.

Bridging The Gap Between What People Want And Where They Are Now

Once you're clear on what you can offer and why people want it, it's time to bridge the gap and lead them in the right direction.

You often start with a free or low-price entry offer.

For example at a farmer's market, you might go to have a look a certain market stall due to a sign that says "Free sample: Try our new herbal tea blend!", which is the entry point to the customer pathway.

From there, you might then try the product and have a conversation with the owner of the stall about the brand and what makes the tea different from others out there.

In doing so, the brand is building trust and giving the customer the opportunity to find out about that product and to make a purchase.

The key here is to really nurture the relationship with potential customers once they make their way inside the door at the entry point.

Creating Customer Pathways INTENSIVE

This month inside the Herbal Circle, we've holding an 10-Day Intensive specifically to guide you through the steps to create customer pathways for your herbal business.

It will help you to:

  1. Get clarity on who you want to bring into your business
  2. Decide what type of pathway makes the most sense for your goals
  3. Map out what points need to be reached on your customer journey
  4. Hone in on what is important to your customers and how to speak to that
  5. Build out your pathways so that they work for you going forward!

If you're interested in being involved in this, I would recommend you to join the Herbal Circle now.

Join us in the Herbal Circle!

The Herbal Circle is a small group of herbalists who help each other to create a world we are proud of.

We meet twice a month in "The Tea Room" to talk face-to-face (virtually) with other herbalists on LIVE video chats to work through any roadblocks and brainstorm creative solutions together on the call.

Each week, everyone in the group is prompted to share their wins and what they need help with so that we can help each other.
